  • Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa

    After a 4-hour drive to Londorossi Gate, we start our hike through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.

    After a 4-hour drive to Londorossi Gate, we start our hike through the lush rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp. The trail is gentle but can be muddy and slippery, so gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. This first day offers a great introduction to Kilimanjaro’s diverse environment.

  • Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

    Today we leave the rainforest behind, hiking into a savannah landscape filled with tall grasses and volcanic rock.

    Today we leave the rainforest behind, hiking into a savannah landscape filled with tall grasses and volcanic rock. The terrain is scenic and offers stunning views as we reach Shira Ridge. From here, we drop to Shira 1 Camp, catching the first glimpse of Kibo.

  • Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

    We continue exploring the Shira Plateau on a gentle walk, passing through meadows

    We continue exploring the Shira Plateau on a gentle walk, passing through meadows filled with wildflowers and unique Senecio trees. The landscape offers breathtaking views, and this day serves as a good acclimatization opportunity as we head to Shira 2 Camp.

  • Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower

    We ascend eastward towards Lava Tower, a dramatic 300 ft tall volcanic formation.

  • Day 5: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp

    Today, we trek out of Moir Valley with a moderately steep climb to Lent Hills.

    Today, we trek out of Moir Valley with a moderately steep climb to Lent Hills. From there, we continue across rocky terrain and undulating paths to Buffalo Camp. The views from this section are stunning, offering a panoramic view of the plains toward the Kenyan border.

  • Day 6: Buffalo Camp to Third Cave

    We start our journey up Buffalo Ridge, entering increasingly barren and remote landscapes.

  • Day 7: Third Cave to School Hut

    After leaving Third Cave, we ascend steadily over the “Saddle” between Kibo and Mawenzi.

    After leaving Third Cave, we ascend steadily over the “Saddle” between Kibo and Mawenzi. The terrain is rocky and increasingly barren as we make our way to School Hut. Here, we rest and prepare for the physically demanding summit day ahead.

  • Day 8: School Hut to Uhuru Peak

    At midnight, we start our final push toward the summit. The climb to Gilman’s Point

    At midnight, we start our final push toward the summit. The climb to Gilman’s Point offers challenging conditions, but the breathtaking sunrise rewards your efforts. After reaching Uhuru Peak, we begin the long descent to Mweka Camp, enjoying a well-deserved celebration and rest at camp.
