The visitor's centre is well worth a visit after the morning's game drive. This nicely designed centre, offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The centre also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the centre in the shade of the giant acacia trees.
In the afternoon we will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attract a number of lion and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons - including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink!

Tarangire Safari Lodge is situated on a panoramic bluff in Tarangire National Park, with one of Tanzania’s most spectacular views, encompassing acacias and baobabs, plentiful wildlife and the Tarangire River.
Game drives within Tarangire National Park are a year-round wildlife spectacle!
The river flows through the park and is a magnet for wildlife, especially large populations of elephant. The park also contains varied and contrasting landscapes and unrivalled birdlife.
The lodge was the first to be built in the park. Since 1985, it has been owned and managed by the Simonson family, who have added a very personal touch.
At the heart of the lodge are the impressively high thatched roofs of the lounge and dining area. The open design allows for an uninterrupted landscape view and captures the cooling breeze.
Between game viewing excursions, relax in our large, comfortable lounge. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool or browse in the Baobab Boutique.
Our main facilities, including three tents, are wheelchair accessible. Accommodation choices are either a traditional canvas tent or a roomy stone bungalow, with all rooms having a direct valley view.
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge standing high on a bluff overlooking the gleaming waters of Lake Manyara, the Serena has some of the best views around and offers easy access to the national park. Antelope and baboons roam the grounds and, thanks to a local community-run programme, a whole host of activities are possible here, including mountain biking, forest walks, canoeing and even night game drives.
The infinity pool is a focal point, with a pool bar encouraging you to soak up the views for longer.
Inside the lodge buildings you’ll find vibrantly colourful frescos that depict the patterns of migratory birds, the swirling motifs of Maasai bomas and local landscapes. For dining, you’ll eat in the dining room, or out on the terrace if you prefer. Breakfast and lunch are buffet-style, with set menu options for dinner. Comfortable rooms are set in traditional, yet quite quirky, two-storey whitewashed rondavels dotted throughout the grounds. Walls are adorned with local artwork and the rooms have sliding doors that open out onto a small stone balcony.
All tents are custom made walk in tents using heavy duty canvas ensure a spacious ‘room’ complete with en-suite bathrooms. Tents are tastefully appointed with twin or double beds, crisp linen, warm blankets or duvets, bedside tables, wardrobes and luggage racks make your tent a true ‘home away from home’. Lighting is provided by solar power and your bathroom comes complete with a dressing table with fully plumbed washbasin, lavatory and showers – a new, and often surprising, interpretation of ‘camping’. Hot water is available and evening and morning tea or in fact your every need will be arranged
Regularly voted one of the best hotels in the world, this unique lodge in Tanzania clings to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, the largest and most perfect volcanic crater on Earth. Long and low, the lodge is built from local river stone and camouflaged with indigenous vines. Designed to blend completely into the landscape, it is entirely invisible from the floor of the Crater 600 metres below.
Known as ‘the eighth wonder of the world’ the Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife arenas. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique biosphere, which has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Deep within the Crater, enclosed by towering walls, some 25,000 large mammals wander the plains, lakes and forests of ‘the land that time forgot’, dominated by enormous bull elephants, rhinos and lions.
Hugging the contours of the jagged Crater rim, this luxury safari lodge takes its inspiration from the so-called ‘Cradle of Mankind’, the prehistoric site of Olduvai Gorge, which lies close by. Linked by arched stone passages and timbered decks, its walls are decorated with stylized prehistoric cave paintings and lit by flaring torches. At the stone heart of the lodge burns a glowing fire, which is kept constantly alight. Decorated with cave paintings, the rooms are strung around the Crater rim. Each has its own rock- enclosed balcony, and all enjoy completely uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheatre far below. The location, the service and the luxury accommodation make Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge the ultimate destination for a unique safari experience in Tanzania.
The African Tulip is an elegant and charming Luxury Boutique Hotel located along Serengeti Road right in the heart of Arusha. A warm and friendly welcome awaits guests who want to experience the best of Tanzanian hospitality.
